 What's different about your equipment?
In Her Image features the finest and most advanced medical equipment available. Our mammography facility is state-of-the-art and has some extraordinary features that will benefit you as you go through your test.
Our mammography machine features compression paddles that sense the unique size, shape and density of your breast, and slows down as it engages your breast, providing less discomfort. In addition, the dosage of X-ray that you will be exposed to during your mammography is at least 40 percent lower than most other mammography machines.
In addition, In Her Image is an official Softer MammogramTM Provider, proudly offering the benefits of this feature to all patients of In Her Image.
This specialized pad makes the exam softer, warmer and more comfortable for each and every woman.
Our ultrasound equipment is state-of-the-art with specific functions that can provide our radiologists with additional views. There is no X-ray emitted from an ultrasound examination.
Our bone densitometry scanner also features low X-ray dosing delivering less radiation.
At what age should I have my first mammography?
The current recommended age for starting screening mammography is 40 years old and every year thereafter. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family, you may consider starting your yearly screenings earlier than 40 years old as you may be at higher risk. You should discuss this and come to a decision with your doctor.
It’s certainly not fun. We, as women understand that. But, most women can easily handle the slight discomfort of the procedure. With our advanced digital mammography equipment your screening is over in a matter of a few minutes. A facility with old fashioned film mammography will have a much longer scan time.
Does breast size matter in terms of my procedure?
No. Our state-of-the-art equipment is able to uniquely interpret size, shape and density of each patient's breast.
